Tilka Manjhi was a Santhal freedom fighter who fought for the independence against the British. Gavai Godhar Paharia with his brothers Sundar Paharia and Jabra Paharia also resisted the British in Pargana and Santhal.
Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from Andhra Pradesh was involved in a rebellion against British authorities in India in 1846. Among the other Telugu freedom fighters were Allu Sitarama, Gottipatti Brahmaiah who was famous as Ryotu Pedda which translates to Leader of Farmers.
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1982. He was active in the Zamindari Movement and Quit India Movement.
