The main respiratory organ is lungs, they lie in the thoracic cavity and are in pairs or pair of lungs, there is one on the either sides of the heart. The thoracic cavity is enclosed behind by the thoracic vertebrae, lateral position, by th ribs and in front of the cartilaginous structure, sternum. The thoracic cavity is closed just below by the diaphragm (muscle fibres which help in the process of inspiration and expiration). They involve the outer membranous structure which is enclosed in two membranes in each lung called pluerae, paritition between the lungs called Mediastinum, bronchioles which are sub-divided branches with or without cartilaginous rings, alveloar ducts which open into alveoli and are 300 million in number with extensive number of blood capillaries in avery thin wall consisting of squamous epithelium.
Lungs are the main organs for respiratory exchanges which occur in the alveoli, any damage to the tissue will lead to improper functioning or dysfunction of the lungs. It is also related to Congestive heart failure which happens due to the collapsing of lungs.
