Based on the Köppen system, India hosts six major climatic subtypes, ranging from arid desert in the west, alpine tundra and glaciers in the north, and humid tropical regions supporting rainforests in the southwest and the island territories.

The top zone is known as alpine zone. It is very cold here and has pine trees. Eg jammu and kashmir and arnachal pradesh.

The next is sub tropical zone where summers are hot and wet and winters are cold and dry having extreme climate. Eg delhi and punjab

Tropical zone eg madhya pradesh.

Arid zone eg rajasthan
