Major petroleum producing region in India is Gujarat coast in which main site is Gulf of Cambay, Brahmaputra valley which mainly includes the oilfields named Digboi, Rudrasagar etc.

Off shore oilfields include Kuchchh, Krishna Godavari Delta, Sundarbans, Konkan and many more.

These are major petroleum deposits or reserves in India.

According to the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, there are a total of 23 Oil refineries in India. Most of them are managed by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, and a few are managed by the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, CPCL, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, ONGC, and the Reliance Industries Limited.
