Major threats to environment are:

Global warming:

  • It is heating up because of global temperature.
  • It is one aspect of climate change.
  • It is caused due to the increase of greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide, methane.
  • Caused by burning of fossil fuels by humans, and deforestation.
  • Impact: increase of sea level, increase in heat, melting of ice caps.

Loss of natural resources:

  • Humans heavenly extract natural resources like energy products like coal; forest products.
  • Consequently it affects biodiversity.
  • With the population explosion humans will need more resources.

Pollution:

  • It includes air, water, soil, and sound pollution.
  • It is harmful to the environment as well as humans.
  • Cities are the major sources of pollution as they are the center of industrial development and people are present in heavy numbers.

Deforestation:

  • It is the cutting down of trees and forests.
  • It hampers the biological process impacting biodiversity.
  • Shelter of wild animals are lost.
  • It further boosts global warming.
