An alloy of nickel and chromium is used as the heating wire in a heater.

Explanation:

  • the characteristics of a heating wire is that it should have high melting point.
  • In addition to this it should also have high resistance because resistance is directly proportional to the amount of heat which is generated.
  • For this process the ideal wire should be made up of an alloy consisting of 80% of Nickel and 20% of chromium.
  • In short we also referred this type of whereas nichrome wire.
