The modern non-stick pans were made using a coating of Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene or PTFE)

Teflon is a synthetic chemical made up ofcarbon and fluorine atoms. It was firstmade in the 1930s, and provides a nonreactive, nonstick and almost frictionless surface
