Urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of urinary system, such as kidneys, ureters, bladder & urethra.
UTI is common, mostly in women, most often cause occuring in a normal urinary tract & usually as cystitis; half of all will experience a UTI in their whole life span.
Most UTI's are caused by gram - negative bacteria, most commonly Escherichia coli or species of Klebsiella, Proteus, Pseudomonas or Enerobacter, although other strains, such as Staphylococcus and Serratia, are emerging.
