On the page layout or layout tab, you have to click column.

At the bottom of the list, you could choose more columns.

This is so far changing the column dialog box and able to adjust the settings under Width and spacing.

If you want columns of varying widths, deselect the checkbox next to equal column width.

The column width gets wider by doing these options.

In order to change the column width in excel you must follow the steps given below.

1) Select the column ort columns for which you need to change the width.

2) Once you have selected the column you will need to right click on top of the column.

3) A drop down menu will appear with a couple of options. You will find the option of ‘column width’ towards the bottom of the menu.

4) Left click on ‘column width’. A small box will pop up. Enter the desired column width and click ‘OK’.
