Mode of feeding in Hydra is phagocytosis. Hydra captures the prey with the help of specialized cell called a cnidocyst, produce the nematocysts and tentacles. These contacts and brings the food towards the mouth. Sometimes a toxin is released along with the nematocyst in order to overcome the prey.

1. Hydra is a simple multicellular animal.
2. It has a number of tentacles around its mouth, which are used for ingestion of food.
3. These tentacles entangle small aquatic animals and kill them with their stinging cells.
4. After this they push them into their mouth.
5. Now inside their body cavity digestive juices are secreted by the surrounding cells.
6. These juices digest the food and the digested food is absorbed through the cavity walls and assimilated in the cells.
