(i) Photosynthesis takes place in the grana and stroma of the chloroplast (plastid) in green plants. (ii) The raw materials required for this process are carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll. (iii) Carbon dioxide enters into the leaves through stomata and cells of the roots absorbs water from the soil. (iv) The balanced equation for photosynthesis-

Balanced chemical equation-6CO2+12H2O gives C6H12O6+6CO2+6H2O

CO2=Carbon dioxide

H2O=Water

C6H12O6=Glucose

O2=Oxygen
