oxidising means addition of oxygen
reducing means removal of oxygen
in the equation ZNO +C=ZN+CO
ZNO loses oxygen so it is reduction and C gains oxygen so it is oxidation
hope this helps you :)

here , the reaction is ZNO+ C = ZN+CO
so, Reducing agent-C
Oxidizing agent-ZnO
Oxidized-C
Reduced- ZnO
Reduction: Reaction that shows the loss of oxygen or gain of hydrogen.
Both oxidation and reduction take place simultaneously and hence called redox reaction.
