Name the oxidizing agent and reducing agent in the following reactions:

NaCl + Br2 ------------>NaBr + Cl2​

Explanation:

Reducing agent is chlorine. Bromine is oxidizing agent. The one being reduced will always be the oxidizing agent and the one being oxidized will always be the reducing agent.

  1. Let me explain it more easily. When you have Covid 19, it is said to be tested positive. Positive result of it means the negative thing is there. When you lose electron, you become negative( this is just for explanation). So it is called oxidizing. Chlorine is oxidizing here because it has become cl2 in the product, meaning it has given the electron it took from Sodium. Same goes for bromine.
