Soil formation involves a lot of intervention from naturally occurring parameters. Factors that influence soil formation are five and they include:
1) Parent rock material- this is the original rock material that the soil is formed from. It determines the very nature of the soil formed.
2)Time- the time that soil take to form also determines the nature of the resulting soil.
3) Topography- the landscape of the region where soil is forming determines such aspects as soil erosion that also influence soil formation.
4) Vegetation- the type of vegetation in an area also determines the type of soil that is formed.
5) Climate- the climate of an area determines such aspects such as temperature which also has an impact on the type of soil to be formed.
