There are 9 parts of speech.

  1. The Noun-A noun is a word that denotes anything concrete like a person ,thing place or substance or any abstract like an event state, activity, time ,process and so on . Example - Anshu is a good boy.
  2. The Adjective - An adjective is a word used to qualify a noun or a pronoun. - Nesfield. Example - I eat some rice.
  3. The Articles - Articles are a type of demonstrative adjectives which are used before noun. Example- I saw the boy.
  4. The Pronoun - A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun. Example- I am singing.
  5. The Verb- A verb is the part of a sentence that tells us what the subject performs. Verbs are the hearts of English sentences. Examples: Jacob walks in the morning.
  6. Adverb - An adverb is a word which gives additional information regarding a verb. Example- Ram runs quickly.
  7. The Preposition - A preposition is a word placed before an noun or pronoun to show its relation with another noun or pronoun. Example- The cat sits on the mat.
  8. The Conjunction - A conjunction is a word which joins together sentences or words. Example - Bring me a pen and a book.
  9. The Interjection - Interjection are words expressing different moods of the speaker they can be words expressing some sounds corresponding to the mood of the speakers. - Dr. Elias Valentine. Example - Alas ! He is dead.
