Answer: i .) STARCH:- It is primarily digested in two parts of the human body:-
a.) Buccal cavity
b.) Small Intestine
EXPLANATION:- In the buccal cavity, starch is partially hydrolysed by the action of salivary amylase. The major digestion and absorption of starch occurs in the small intestine where the pancreatic amylase acts on the starch to break them completely.
ii.) PROTEIN:- It is digested primarily in the stomach followed by the small intestine.
EXPLANATION:- Protein is digested in the stomach by the action of HCL which activates the pepsinogen into pepsin. It then breaks down proteins into peptides. At small intestine, pancreatic enzymes like trypsinogen acts on these proteins and breath them down to their simplest forms i.e, amino acids.
iii.) FATS:- Its digestion is primarily done in the small intestine while some of the digestion occurs in the stomach too.
EXPLANATION:- Gastric lipase in the stomach acts on the fat molecules and breaks them down into the smaller molecules like diglycerides and fatty acids. A very little amount of fats is digested in this method. In the small intestine however, with the action of bile juice, fats are digested completely into lipids.
