The Treaty ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919 in Versailles, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand which directly led to World War I. The other Central Powers on the German side of World War I signed separate treaties.

There were alot of problems faced by Weimar Republic after signing the treaty of versailles or The peace treaty. The treaty was that -
- Germany had to give 13% of their land, 75% of iron and 26% coal to France, Poland and Lithuania.
- Germany was demilitarised
- Allied Armies occupied resources rich Rhineland.
- Germany paid 6 billion euros to allied armies as compensation of the war damage.
