The people who contributed in fighting against casteism where Mahatma Gandhi and B.R Ambedkar.

  • Mahatama Gandhi wanted to maintain the Varna system and at the same time opposed caste discrimination. For him, appreciation of the dignity of labor would eliminate from the caste system the notion of higher and lower grades.
  • According to BR Ambedkar, for abolishing caste system, the religious notion on which the system was laid had to be broken.
  • He assumed that caste systems was not just divisions of labour, but also of labourers. Equality should be for all, as not all share the success.
