My Grandfather (Dad’s father) We call him Ayyapa.
I am not the first or last grandchild, not that close to my grandfather. But his principles and preaching for life is something very amazing and inspiring.
He worked as a accountant in Madurai, hardly he managed a family of 6 with Rs 500 salary per month. They had lived in a house, which is nearly the size of our bathroom now, where they had everything inside, they had to bath, sleep, cook and study there. (My dad says these, how hard they have come up in life). He never compromised with education of his sons and daughters.
Today all 4 are doing great in the society. Two doctors, a engineer and a post graduate. The eldest son (my Peripa) is a neurologist with a busy practice, he inspires and encourages me a lot when it comes to my career. My dad, is a energy consultant and a professor in a government engineering college. Whenever he shares about his guest lectures to others places, my grandfather feels pride in it, that his son is in a respectful position. How a illiterate changed the lives of 4 ! Simply inspiring!!
My father had longed for getting many things, but my grandfather couldn’t get them, except for good education. Today he somehow manages to get us what we wish, if not immediately but someday.
My father’s long time goal when he joined college, was to get a bike after he gets to earn. Recently when my dad spoke about his ambitions, he expressed that he never wished he would get a house or a car in his life, all he wished was a honda bike.
