The product of force(N) and velocity (m/s) can be simplified as

n \times  \frac{m}{s}  =  \frac{nm}{s}

(The n is supposed to be capital, cannot make it capital in mathematical text)

But, we know that Nm is Work which is product of Force and displacement caused by force

 \frac{w}{t}

And work divided by time or rate of work is the same as power, so therefore the product of force and velocity is Power(P).

Power is a Scalar quantity as neither work nor time are vectors
