Because in chaura chauri 22 policemen was in killed in 1922 .So, that's why it is called of by Mahatma Gandhi
chaura chauri is in the district of Gorakhpur

The non-cooperation movement was withdrawn because of the Chauri Chaura incident. Although he had stopped the national revolt single-handedly, on March 10, 1922, Gandhi was arrested.
