Rabindranath Tagore reacted against the introduction of Western education in India.

Impressed by what is happening in Europe, some Indians see that Western education will help to make India modern, where Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore were prominent.

Bishnu Dey was a Bengali poet, writer, and scholar of modern times, as well as post-modern. He started as a philanthropist, gaining recognition for the musical quality of his poems, and founded a post-Tagorean generation of Bengali poets, such as Buddhadeb Basu and Samar Sen, which marked the arrival of "New Poems" in Bengali literature, heavily influenced by Marxist ideas. His most important work, Smriti Satta Bhabishyat (Memory, being, the Future) (1955-61), set a new example in Bengali poetry. He later won the 1965 Sahara Academy Award in Bengali and India's highest literary award, the Jnanpith Award, in 1971.

Amiya Chandra Chakravarty was a critic of literary, educational, and Bengali poets. He was a great friend of Rabindranath Tagore and edited several books of his poems. He co-founded Gandhi and was an expert on American Catholic monks and nuns Thomas Merton. Drs. Chakravarty was honored with his poems at the 1963 Sahitya Akademi Award. He taught religion and comparative religion in India for almost a decade and then for more than two decades at the universities of England and the US In 1970, he was honored by the Government of India and the Padma Bhushan Award.

Rabindranath Tagore, the founder of the National Anthem of India and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, was the greatest man who ever lived. He was a Bengali poet, Brahmo Samaj philosopher, visual artist, playwright, novelist, musician, and composer. He was a reformer of culture and who transformed Bengali art by blocking the barriers that held it in place in the ancient Indian tribes. Although he was a polymath, his writing career alone was enough to put him on the top list of greats of all time. To this day, Rabindranath Tagore is often remembered for his poetic, spiritual, and kind songs. He was one of those great minds, before his time, and that is why his meeting with Albert Einstein is considered a contradiction between science and spirituality. Tagore was determined to spread his ideas throughout the world which is why he embarked on a world tour, teaching in countries like Japan and America. His work soon gained international acclaim and eventually became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize. Except for Jana Gana Mana (Indian National Anthem), her composition ‘Amar Shonar Bangla’ was recognized as the National Anthem of Bangladesh and the National Anthem of Sri Lanka inspired by one of her works.

Buddadadeva Bose was a 20th-century Indian writer from Bengali. Often referred to as a poet, he was a prolific writer who wrote novels, short stories, plays, and essays in addition to poetry. He was a strong critic and organizer of his time. He is known as one of five poets who moved to introduce modern art to Bengali poetry. It is said that since Rabindranath Tagore, there is no such thing as the use of many cultures in Bengali literature.
