Required solution :-

Archimedes Principle

“The upward buoyant force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, whether partially or fully submerged, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces and acts in the upward direction at the center of mass of the displaced fluid.”

This tells us that the buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

Archimedes principle is mainly used to calculate the volume of an object that does not have a regular shape.

Submarines are always underwater is that they have a component called ballast tank. This allows the water to enter making the submarine be in it's position underwater since the weight of the submarine is greater than the buoyant force.

A few examples are as follows:

  • A person taking bath: When the tub is filled to a certain level and, the bather enters in the water it rises based on the volume of water weight that the person's body displaces.
  • Hot-air balloon: They rise and float in mid-air when the buoyant force of the hot-air balloon is less than the air around and descends vise-versa.
  • Hydrometer: The lead shots present in them  makes them float vertically on the liquid.
