Ques - How is common salt obtained from seawater ?

Ans - The same activity we have just performed is carried out on a large scale to get common side we use at home. But the difference is that here the whole process is natural, i.e. we do not have to form a salt solution or use big burner for evaporation.

Salt is naturally present in the sea water. This seawater is collected in shallow ponds called ' salt pans ' and left to evaporate in the Sun. After some days, the sea water evaporates and the salt is left behind. This salt is further collected, purified and packed for domestic use.
