Diffusion the process by which oxygen enters the blood capillaries from alveoli and carbon dioxide enters the alveoli from blood capillaries during respiration.

\huge\bf{ Additional \: Information :}

\bf{Alveoli : } Alveoli are the balloon like structure present in the lungs.

The large number of alveoli increases the surface areas for gaseous exchange.

\bf{Exchange\: of \: gases \:in \:alveoli :}

Firstly the oxygen is taken up by blood from alveoli and carbon dioxide is released by blood into alveoli. carbon dioxide is an unrequired gas which brings from whole body.

Then haemoglobin which is present in blood takes up oxygen and supplies it to cells.

Oxygen is supplied to all the cells in the body by haemoglobin (respiratory pigment) and due to diffusion pressure.
