If the edible food item turns rancid it gives unpleasant and stale/fowl smell/taste.

It dos't tastes/smells good beacuse in oxidation process it absorps more oxygen and looses hydrgen and room temprature is 24celsius and it is not the freezing point so it cant be preserved
