It is called denta caries.. it happens due to food habits consumption of simple carbohydrates, sugary foods which are left without cleaning, anatomical factors such as little gap between teeth so it becomes difficult to clean with a tooth brush, so many misnomers that it is genetic and all is not true. easiest way to prevent caries/ cavities is to gargle ur mouth after every meal thoroughly , brushing at night, regular visit to a Dentist and use of dental floss alternate day with correct technique .
