Explanation:
a) Sieving is the process used to remove pebbles and stones from sand. The impurities in sand such as pebbles and stones differ in size and can be easily removed by sieving.
b) The process to separate stones from rice is handpicking. Stones are large in size to be detected by eye easily and so, we find that handpicking is a convenient method of separating substances.
c) As chalk is heavier, therefore it will settle at the bottom of the mixture when it is left undisturbed for sometime. Thus, water can be separated from chalk powder by sedimentation, decantation and filtration.
