The products of the reactions are as follows:

  • When Zinc reacts with hydrochloric acid, it liberates hydrogen. The products formed are Zinc chloride and Hydrogen.

                Zn + 2HCl ⇒ ZnCl₂ + H₂

  • When a small piece of sodium is dropped into water, the products formed are Sodium hydroxide and hydrogen.

                2Na + 2H₂O ⇒ 2NaOH + H₂

  • When Magnesium ribbon burns in the air, the product formed is  Magnesium oxide.

                      Mg + O₂ ⇒ 2MgO
