Malleability is the property that makes steel and sponge different.

EXPLANATION:

Steel is malleable whereas sponge is not malleable. Steel is smooth and has lustre whereas sponge is soft and does not have any lustre. Steel can be easily beaten into sheets whereas sponge cannot be beaten into sheets.

Steel is heavy whereas sponge is light. Steel is also a good conductor of heat and electricity whereas sponge is not a good conductor of heat and electricity.

But Sponge can not be done into sheets. Steel has more weight than the sponge. Steel is very good conductor of electricity. But Sponge is Insulator of electricity. Steel is Opaque object. But sponge is a little transparent as it has some holes and we can see through it. Steel is non elastic. But sponge is elastic. Steel sinks in water. But sponge floats on water. Steel performs a little as magnet. But does not perform as a magnet.
