A typical pollen grain is covered by two layers-
(i) Inner layer Intine.
(ii) Outer layer Exine.
Particularly the Exine has a covering of an organic compound Sporopollenin. This organic compound is said to be one of the most durable compounds and is indestructible to any kind of enzymes and the like.
It is Sporopollenin present in Exine that helps the pollen to survive in adverse environmental conditions.
