Small amounts of HCl gas for laboratory use can be generated in anHCl generator by dehydratinghydrochloric acid with either sulfuric acid or anhydrous calcium chloride. ... NaCl + NaHSO4 → HCl + Na2SO. For such generators to function, thereagents should be dry.

Answer

Sodium chloride and sulphuric acid

What are reagnants ?

Reagnants are the compounds / substances which are used to prepare the respective substance ( here HCl gas )

Laboratory preparation of HCl

In the lab preparation :

Sodium choride is used since

(i) It is cheap

(ii) It is easily available.

Sulphuric acid is used since

(i) It is not volatile .

(ii) It can easily replace the latter HCl

Equation :

NaCl + H₂SO₄ ============> NaHSO₄ + HCl

Thus NaCl and H₂SO₄ are the reagnants to prepare HCl

Hope it helps !
