Local winds and their blowing regions are as follows:

1) Chinook

Region - Rocky Mountains

2) Mistral

Region - Central France and the Alps to the Mediterranean.

3) Foehn

Region - Northern side of the Alps and North Italy.

4) Loo

Region - Plains of India and Pakistan.

• Chinook is the local wind, it is a warm dry wind that blows down the east side of rocky mountains at the end of winter.

• Mistral is a strong cold north-westerly wind that blows mainly in winter.

• Foehn is a hot southerly wind on the northern slopes of the Alps.

• Lol is the strong, gusty, hot and dry wind which blows in the months of May and June because it is a dry summer wind.
