Damodar river rises in the hills of the chhota nagpur plateau and flows across the indian states of jharkhand and west bengal , finally merges into hugli river. It wasknown as the sorrow of Bengal because of its ravaging floods in the plains of WestBengal. But, now it is not known as a sorrow of bengal.
