The Sudrashan lake, an artificial reservoir was constructed by Vaishya Pushyagupta who was the governor of Chandergupta Maurya.

The lake was later excavated or found by Shaka ruler Rudradaman I who got it repaired in around 150 AD. He mentioned the lake and its construction in his Junagarh Rock Inscription.

The lake is asid to be repaired by Skanda Gupta of Gupta dynasty.
