Answer:

Digestion of proteins majorly occurs in the stomach.

Explanation:

Protein is a macro-molecule present in food. It ensures muscle building and growth.

Proteins are majorly digested in the stomach by the protein digesting enzyme pepsin.

Gastric chief cells found in the stomach releases pepsin in an innactive zymogen (innactive form) pepsinogen. Pepsin requires a acidic medium to break down protein molecules.

Parietal cells present in the inner lining of the stomach secretes hydrochloric acid that provides an acidic medium of the stomach by lowering the pH upto 1.5 to 2 and activates pepsin.

When pepsin is activated with the help of the acidic medium, it breaks digests protein and breaks it down into small amino acids.

Amino acids are the building block of proteins.
