Clayey soil have very less space between its particles, it is compact and sticky . Clay particles are mich smaller and they are tightly packed which leaves very little space for air. Clay particles are so ssmall and has the least amount of pore space. Also, clayey soil provides much less air to the plant roots which grow in it.

Even the silt particles are larger than clay particles.
