Six missions landed men on the Moon, beginning with Apollo 11 in July 1969, during which Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon. Apollo 13 was intended to land, however it was restricted to a flyby due to a malfunction aboard the spacecraft. All nine manned missions returned safely to the Earth.

The space craft sent to moon is Chandrayan 1 and Rohini satellite.

Chandrayan 1 was launched by ISRO scientists from India. It was the first mission for India to launch a space craft on the moon. It worked for one year in the space but it stopped after August 2009. It helped to map an orbit and also found the evidence of water molecule on moon. Rohini satellite was also launched by India in the year of 1980.
