The strait between ‘India and Sri Lanka’ is the Palk of Strait.

Explanation:

The Palk of Strait lies between the ‘South-Eastern part of India’ and the ‘Northern part of Sri Lanka’. The ‘Southern end’ of the strait consists of a number of low islands which are like a chain and are called the Adam Ridge.  

The southern part of the bay is called the Palk Bay. Palk Strait is an inlet in the Bay of Bengal and was named after ‘Robert Palk’ who was the Governor of Madras.
