• Around the cyton are "root" like structures called dendrons which further sub branch into dendrites.

• The largest dendron is the axon that constitutes the main portion of the neuron.

• Each axon has a myelin sheath over it along with a neurolemma to protect it.

• The axon endings have terminal branches that join to the dendrites of another neuron, forming a nerve.
