Amoeba takes in food using temporary finger-like extensions (pseudopodia) of the cell surface which fuse over the food particle forming a food-vacuole

" Pseudopodia "

This follows as,

Amoeba engulfs tiny particles of food with the help of its false feet called Pseudopodia. This process is called circumvallation. The Pseudopodia close to form a small cavity called food vacuole. Here the enzymes help the breakdown of food into simpler and soluble molecules. This then get absorbed and assimilated and residue is thrown out through the contractile vacuole, as Amoeba has no anus. so it can excrete from any part .
