Name the substance that makes cork compact

The walls of Cork cells are have heavily thickened by the deposition of an organic substance ( a fatty substance) called suberin.

Suberin makes the cells impermeable to water and gases & makes cork compact.
The cork cells do not contain protoplasm but are filled with resin or tannins.
