Pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther (microsporangium) to the stigma (in Angiosperms) or ovule (in Gymnosperms). Pollination is brought about by 3 agencies:

Anemophily -pollination by wind, e.g. Grasses, Pinus (Gymnosperm).

Hydrophily -pollination by water, e.g. Vallisneria.

Entomophily -pollination by insects, e.g. Salvia, Helianthus (vern. sunflower)
