There are three meninges which protects the brain they are:

• Dura mater
• Arachnoid layer
• Pia mater

Dura mater :

[This is the outermost fibrous layer along with cranial bones.]

Arachnoid layer :

[This is the middle fibrous layer. They are in the form of spider web.]

Pia mater :

[This is the innermost thin vascular membrane that are close to nervous tissues.]

Space between dura mater and arachnoid is known as subdural space and the space between Pia mater and arachnoid layer is known as subarachnoid space.
