The three parallel ranges of the Himalayas are:

Himadri

Himachal

Shiwalik

Himadri is the northern most range. It is also known as the Greater Inner Himalayas. It's main features are:

1. It is the most continuous range. It has the loftiest peaks with an average height of 6000 metres. Mount Everest lies in this region.

2. The core of this area in the Himalayas is made up of granite.

3. It is perennially covered with ice.
