The three parallel ranges of Himalayas are :

Characteristics

  1. Himadri: It is the most continuous range. It contains all the prominent himalayan peaks like Mount Everest, kanchenjunga, Makalu, etc.
  2. Himachal:- This range lies to the South of the himalaya and forms the most rugged mountain system.
  3. Shiwalik:- They are composed of coarse sediments brought down by rivers from the main Himalayan range.
