Three are three phases of growth in plants namely, meristematic, elongation and maturation.

\bigstar Phase of Meristem :

  • There both root apex and the shoot apex divides cell constantly.
  • They are rich in protoplasm.
  • They possess large conspicuous nuclei.
  • They have high respiratory rate.

\bigstar Phase of elongation :

  • The cells that are proximal to the Meristematic zone shows the phase of elongation.
  • They increase vacuole.
  • There the cell enlargement is done.

\bigstar Phase of maturation :

  • The apex that are more proximal to the phase of elongation represents phase of maturation.
  • They increase the size in terms of thickening and protoplasmic.
