Answer:

The three types of rocks are igneous, sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks. Each of this rocks are formed by physical changes such as melting, cooling, eroding, compacting, or deforming—that are part of the rock cycle.

*Igneous Rocks- Igneous rocks are formed from the solidification of molten rock material. Examples of intrusive igneous rocks are diabase, diorite, gabbro, granite, pegmatite, and peridotite. Extrusive igneous rocks erupt onto the surface, where they cool quickly to form small crystals.

*Sedimentary Rocks- Common sedimentary rocks include sandstone, limestone, and shale. These rocks often start as sediments carried in rivers and deposited in lakes and oceans. When buried, the sediments lose water and become cemented to form rock. Tuffaceous sandstones contain volcanic ash.

*Metamorphic Rocks- A metamorphic rock is a type of rock which has been changed by extreme heat and pressure. Examples of metamorphic rocks: Marble is a metamorphic rock formed from limestone. Slate is a metamorphic mudstone or shale. Quartzite is a metamorphic sandstone.
