PARENCHYMA is the  tissue that forms the soft parts of leaf , stem, root and fruit.

Parenchyma cells are living. The cells of the parenchyma are rounded or isodiametric. The intercellular spaces In parenchyma are abundant.

Some functions of the parenchyma tissues are as follows:

They serve as a packing tissue to fill the space between other tissues. They maintain the shape and firmness of the plant due to its turgid cells. The main function of parenchyma is to store and assimilate food. They store waste products of plants such as tannin , gum, ,crystals resins of inorganic waste.
