As we can see from the electronic configuration of zinc, the atom has a completely filled stable electronic configuration.

But, the two electrons in its 4s orbital can be removed and it can form +2 oxidation state.

But, no more electrons can further be removed from the valence orbital of zinc, since that requires very high energy to knock out one electron from the highly stable completely filled d10 orbital.

Thus, zinc doesn't have a variable oxidation in transition elements.
